I wanted to start with the thin and wispy pieces of the collection because I feel very drawn to them, and something about the color palette reminds me of gemstones. Not only are the silhouettes perfectly sweet and sewn for mermaids, but the pure shades of the fabrics (and the delicate care taken to such thin material, thanks interns!) is extraordinary.
This season of Chloé was very indicative of a coastal mermaid, with ruffles indulgent to the finest curtains, and thin, tea-cozy lace. I am not sure why girlish runways let themselves be so boring sometimes (when they aren’t ultra tech-based and simulated with news-worthy holographs), because there should have been a much more romantic path for these girls. Their sunken and dreary faces stumble down the most sterile floor, little soles of sand and chestnut clicking on concrete. I believe it a disgrace, but that is only because of the credit I owe Chloé’s flair this season. When I think of the Caribbean duchess or the Russian tsarina that walks down the Chloé runway, I envision these gemstone nightgowns as their little evening pieces, skulking around their castles and gossiping to their bed-maids.

I am so fascinated by the fur and the accessorizing of these tails — this quilted coat looks like it's been lined with lemur, and the neck ornaments of rabbit tails? A form of forest glamor, so raw and gifting to the textures of the outerwear pieces. My favorite detailing of Chloé will always be the belts, bands and chains with her name. It makes me want to drape a chain with my name down my waist, or line my belt with charms. The waist chain draped across the thick, wine leather, draped in a rich fur: I am refreshed by the fur, regardless of the recent mafia-wife jackets. Those strike me a little tacky sometimes… but for some reason, the neckline of an animal tail doesn’t? I guess you can’t always explain the vogue within an item. The dark crimson coat has to be my favorite look from the entire collection.

I grouped together these stylings because they had a romantic, lounging attitude that I wanted to explore. How delicious is the bag with the coin, tube-adjacent silhouette (a drachma is a coin from Ancient Greece, and I believe the inspiration is strong here). The color palette is strong with nudes, wines and blacks, a garden pink that is far more feminine in its melancholy than some pinks pretend to be in their cuteness. The same adventurous neckties and billowy sleeves remain true, with high shoulders and thick, gold hardware. The duchess leaves for an expedition today, and the tsarina decides to hook up with a punk rocker from the scene in Moscow.
I have a bad habit of craving an entire wardrobe once a collection convinces me of a particular attitude. This season was spectacular and I saw many impressive collections, so I hope my loyalty to Chloé speaks volumes at Kamali’s vibrant talent.
